William Hill’s purchasing of Bramdywine Bookmaking

William Hill, a big British betting company has officially purchased Brandywine Bookmaking LLC, a land-based sportsbetting firm in Nevada and Delaware America.

William Hill, which is based in London England, has just about 2,350 shops all over the UK. The previous deal that William Hill was involved with was last month when they purchased American Wagering Incorporated, a land-based sportsbook operator and also the Club Cal Neva Satellite Race and Sportsbook Division in America for roughly $39 million.

2010 had the biggest market with an estimated turnover of $2.7 billion and gross win of $151 million in Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon, generated from roughly 190 locations.

Brandywine in Nevade has approximately 90 people working for it, 16 of them in the sportsbook department under the Lucky’s brand alongside one on the Caribbean island of St Kitts. Also it is the exclusive odds-maker for the Delaware State Sports Lottery which works inpartnership with Scientific Games.

Ralph Topping, William Hill’s Chief Executive Officer said “We are excited by the opportunity to bring together three highly respected leaders in sports betting in Nevada and Delaware.”

He also added “Brandywine is a good strategic fit for American Wagering Incorporated’s and Club Cal Neva’s sportsbook operations and will give William Hill a leading position in the US land-based sportsbetting market.”

“This acquisition offers not only a well regarded management team and Nevada operation but also an exclusive land-based sportsbetting relationship with the Delaware state government. This is particularly attractive as the business-to-government model could prove popular in other states as they regulate land-based sportsbetting. We look forward to working with our new colleagues to enhance their offering with the breadth of our sportsbetting content and technology.”

$14.25m (£8.6m) cash and a convertible loan of $1.4m will be the price for William Hill’s deal to acquire Brandywine.
